Privacy

First Sketch runs the “start your project” pages of independent workshops. When you send an enquiry, it goes to that workshop; we (First Sketch) store and deliver it for them. Last updated 9 October 2026.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry:

  • Your name, email, and phone number if you give one.
  • What you chose and wrote: the pieces, the work you liked, your taste, the room, timing, budget and your message.
  • Photos you add. Location and camera details are removed from every photo when it’s uploaded.

Who sees it

  • The workshop you sent it to, by email and in its dashboard. You get a copy by email.
  • We look at an enquiry only to fix a fault, or when the workshop asks us for help with it.
  • The companies that host and send it for us: Vercel (the website), Turso (the database) and Resend (email). They are in the United States, so your enquiry may be accessible under US law.

We never sell your details, use them for advertising, or add you to a mailing list.

In your browser

  • Your progress is saved in your own browser so a refresh doesn’t lose it. It’s cleared when you send.
  • There are no cookies for visitors and no advertising or analytics trackers. A random number that lasts until you close the tab lets us count how many people start and finish an enquiry, without knowing who they are.

How long we keep it

  • An enquiry is kept until the workshop deletes it. If the workshop stops using First Sketch, we delete its enquiries within 60 days, backups included.
  • Photos you upload but don’t send are deleted after a day.
  • Your internet address is used to block spam, such as too many enquiries in an hour, and kept for a day. Our host also keeps standard visit logs for a short time.
  • Emails stay in your inbox and the workshop’s until either of you deletes them.

Workshop accounts

For people who sign in to a workshop’s dashboard, we keep your email, your password in a scrambled form nobody can read back, and a sign-in cookie that lasts 30 days or until you sign out. Failed sign-in attempts are kept for a day to stop password guessing.

Your choices

  • To see, correct or delete an enquiry you sent, ask the workshop, or write to hello@firstsketch.ca. We reply within 30 days.
  • The person responsible for privacy at First Sketch can be reached at the same address.
  • If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
